Built to Empower: Win this hand-built Honda 350 from Femoto USA…

If there’s one thing we love, it’s seeing a stronger female presence in the motorcycle community, especially the custom scene. Women have a long history of inspiring feats on two wheels, from the solo coast-to-coast rides of Bessie Stringfield to the multi-discipline racing prowess of “Motorcycle Mary” McGee to the bike-building genius of Madhouse Motors founder J. Shia — just to name a few. But motorcycle remains a largely male-dominated pursuit, and many female riders find themselves longing for a community of their own.

That’s where an organization like Femoto USA comes in. Founder Bianca Tanuyan (@btanuyan) found herself at a crossroads in 2017 after her divorce. She’d shared her passion for two wheels with her husband, and she wasn’t sure how to proceed in the motorcycling world on her own…

“That’s when I began connecting with other women who were in the same situation. We wanted to stay in the sport, but none of us knew how to do it alone. And that’s how Femoto was born—with 17 women at the start, and it’s since grown into the empowering community it is today.” -Bianca

Today, Femoto hosts bike nights, track days, maintenance nights, moto trips, and beginner rides for women in the Austin, Texas area and beyond. Last year, they decided to take things a step further, coming together to build a custom bike.

“Kelsey, a current admin for Femoto and a strong leader in our community, came up with the brilliant idea of women coming together to wrench on a bike. I had a bike sitting around that I had planned to build, but instead, I decided to donate it to the cause—with one condition: it had to be used for charity and support a great cause.” -Bianca

The bike would be a 1970 Honda CL350 — the street scrambler version of the highly popular CB350 twin — and the cause would be Magdalene House of Austin, a survivor-led charity for women in need.

The Femoto bike-building journey began in March of 2024 with two lead builders, Layla (@tired_of_being_hidden) and Jason (@duc_duc_goat), as well as co-builders Bianca (@btanuyan), Kelsey (@killerbeeyo), and Mari (@mxosm).

The team went with a street tracker style of build, with Layla fabricating the number plate, spacers, and custom electrical box. The team broke out the grinder to detab and streamline the frame, and the bike is now running a Yamaha enduro tank, modern inverted forks, rear-set controls, a tracker-style tail, and a high-mount exhaust.

The “17” number plate is a nod to the year Femoto was born, as well as the original number of members.

“This project has been an inspiring journey of learning, connection, and collaboration—one that has fostered deep bonds of camaraderie, patience, and passion.”

“La Femoto Fatale” debuted at the recent 2025 Handbuilt Show in Austin, where it was one of the stars of the show. But this little stunner isn’t just a show pony — she was built with a purpose. Femoto USA is raffling off this one-of-a-kind machine to benefit Magdalene House. We highly encourage you to enter the raffle by donating through the link below. Each entry goes helps fuel a charity that’s doing good for women in need…and you might just get one cool street tracker in the process.

What an incredible cause and community. Below is our full interview with Femoto founder Bianca Tanuyan, and photography credits go to the amazing Craig Stuart (@scrambler_ams).

• Can you tell us a little about what Femoto is: the origins, inspiration, and envisioned future?

Femoto is a community dedicated to empowering women in the moto world, helping them feel safe, confident, and powerful both on and off the bike. Our goal is to create independent riders who not only support each other but also give back to the community by hosting rides, building friendships, and deepening their knowledge of motorcycles.

Whether you’re a seasoned rider or just starting out, we welcome all women to join our inclusive environment—one built on freedom, support, and acceptance. We organize monthly rides designed especially for newer riders who want to hone their skills, log more seat time, or simply enjoy a fun ride with other like-minded women.

Femoto was founded in 2017 (hence the “17” plate) after I found myself at a crossroads following a divorce. My husband had introduced me to motorcycling, and he was the only person I rode with. He maintained my bike, supported me in my passion, and we shared that love for riding together. But after the divorce, I didn’t know what to do with my bike. Should I keep it? Should I go to bike nights alone? Who was I, without him by my side, doing something we both loved?

That’s when I began connecting with other women who were in the same situation. We wanted to stay in the sport, but none of us knew how to do it alone. And that’s how Femoto was born—with 17 women at the start, and it’s since grown into the empowering community it is today.

• What was the design concept and what influenced the CL350 build?

Kelsey, a current admin for Femoto and a strong leader in our community, came up with the brilliant idea of women coming together to wrench on a bike. I had a bike sitting around that I had planned to build, but instead, I decided to donate it to the cause—with one condition: it had to be used for charity and support a great cause.

That’s when Mari joined the team. Mari is an incredible designer who’s done all of our graphics, and she’s deeply passionate about our community. She brought a vision for the design—something fierce yet uniquely feminine. At the time, she had just learned to ride and was eager to dive in and get involved.

With the three of us having no experience in building a motorcycle, we realized we needed help. So, we set out on a mission to find the right people to guide us through the process.

• What custom work was done to the bike?

Since this was our first motorcycle build and none of us had prior experience, we aimed to keep the custom work to a minimum. Fortunately, Layla and Jason were instrumental in guiding us through this process. While we did learn the basics of welding, we weren’t quite comfortable welding on the bike itself, so we focused on other areas.

Layla took the lead on fabricating several key components for the build, including the number plate, spacers, and the custom box for the electrical components. Jason helped with the exhaust system and also worked on the mounts we needed for various parts.

We spent a lot of time grinding down the original frame, slimming it down to give the bike a cleaner, more streamlined look. Additionally, Matt Coulter contributed a unique custom piece for the front caliper, which needed to be extended to fit perfectly.

• Where should readers keep an eye to enter the raffle?

We’re beyond excited about this raffle, but even more thrilled to spotlight an incredible organization—Magdalene House. Toni, the executive director of Magdalene House, has been riding for years and has joined us on numerous Femoto rides over the years. Watching her grow this amazing nonprofit and witnessing the positive impact she’s had on so many women has been truly inspiring.

We were also honored to have one of the women from Magdalene House join us during the build, and it was such a special experience.

We would love for everyone to get involved—whether through donating or entering the raffle. Your support means the world to us and to the amazing work Magdalene House is doing!
